Publication Information: Published quarterly by the Institute for Southern Studies, Atlanta, Georgia.
Additional Information: Issues have 96, 100, and 226 pages in the double issue. Original covers are also on the issues. Illustrated.
Summary: “Since 1973, the Institute for Southern Studies's journal, Southern Exposure, has gained critical praise for its thorough investigations, unsentimental portraits of Southern life, and resources for change. From their first issue on the military in the South through special book-length issue on the Klan and other issues covering economic development, the Hurricane Katrina recovery, the nuclear industry, and regional theater, the magazine has remained in demand among organizers and trainers. Many back issues are now considered standard resources for classrooms and workshops.” Some of the areas the articles cover are economy, education, environment, history, human rights, culture, demographics and politics. The magazine went out-of-print in 2011.
