Summary: William Cowper was an English poet and hymn writer. One of the most popular poets of his time. Cowper changed the direction of 18th Century Nature poetry by writing of everyday life and scenes of English countryside. In many ways, he was one of the forerunners of Romantic poetry.
Condition: Hardcover Ex-Lib – usual stamps and marks. Covers show some wear, light soiling, few small tears on spine edges; pocket and remains of check out sheet inside front cover and on fly. Vol. 2 lining paper inside front & back covers have tears and no back inside fly papers. In both volumes spine seam inside is cracked in several place so pulling some and a little loose but intact. Few small tears and few small soiled specks. Overall good.
