Front cover has a past down label with the title at the top: Smiling Round The Seven Seas” and then at the bottom it says: “An Arkansaw Traveler Globe Trotting On A Missouri Mule Thomas Elmore Lucy”.
Summary: Thomas Elmore Lucy was an Arkansas humorist and performer of the early 20th century. Born in the early 1870s and living through 1947, a vaudeville poster advertised him as: Master Impersonator, Lighting Cartoonist, Song Humorist, and The Man with Forty Funny Faces. Smiling Round the Seven Seas is an account of his travels in England, continental Europe, China, Central America, the South Seas, Jamaica, etc. The first part of the book is his traveling views and the rest of the book is songs, poems and stunts from his stage acts. A piece of Arkansas and vaudevillian history.
Condition: Hardcover. Ex-Lib – has pocket in the front and a small piece of the checkout sheet on the front inside fly, few stamps and a few pencil marks. Staple show signs of rust but text is sound and clean. Covers show slight wear and light soiling. Overall a good plus copy.
